Dr Daniel Birchall is a Consultant Neuroradiologist at the RVI’s Neurosciences centre in Newcastle specialising in diagnostic cranial and spinal neuroradiology and interventional radiological spinal techniques.
Dr Birchall has been a Consultant at the Neurosciences Centre since 1999. During that time he has also served as Head of Service, and as Chair of the Trust’s Information Systems Strategy Board.
He completed Medical School at Cambridge University; trained as a Physician in Bristol and Queensland; undertook general radiological training in Manchester, completing his higher neuroradiological training in Perth, Western Australia.
Additional higher degrees include a Distinction in MBA from Newcastle University Business School; and his MD Thesis for studies into adolescent scoliosis.
He is a senior editor at the British Journal of Radiology and is currently the President of the British Society of Neuroradiologists.
He has active research interests, and have published over 100 papers in peer-reviewed journals. Hus current research activity centres on the neuro-psychological aspects of image interpretation and on organisational functionality.
