Dr Charles Kelly is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist at the Freeman Hospital’s Northern Centre for Cancer Care specialising in head and neck and skin cancers.
Initially qualifying at Glasgow University, Dr Kelly followed general medical training and then oncology training in Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Dr Kelly has been a consultant in Newcastle – initially the Northern Centre Cancer Treatment and then the Northern Centre for Cancer Care – since 1993.
Formerly chair of the oncology committee of the British Institute of Radiology he is still a member of its education committee. Dr Kelly is an examiner for final exam of the Royal College of Radiologists and has published papers on quality of life in head and neck cancer and skin cancer/melanoma and chapter author contributing to standard postgraduate head and neck cancer and skin cancer UK textbooks.
Dr Kelly is an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer for the Northern Institute for Cancer Research at Newcastle University and Degree Program Director for the Newcastle University MSc in Oncology and Palliative Care.
