Dr Catherine Owen is a Consultant Paediatric Endocrinologist at the Great North Children’s Hospital specialising in childhood endocrinology and diabetes.
Dr Owen graduated from Newcastle University’s Medical School in 1995 and went on to specialise in paediatrics.
She worked for Voluntary Services Overseas for a year in Papua New Guinea during her training. She also studied for a PhD entitled ‘Genetic Determinants of Autoimmune Endocrine Disease’ with Professor Simon Pearce at the Centre for Life in Newcastle.
Dr Owen’s my areas of interest include:
- autoimmune polyendocrinopathy syndromes
- other autoimmune endocrine diseases
- renal associated endocrinopathies and
- metabolic bone disease.
She is also the North-East representative on the MCRN diabetes sub-group.
