Dr Carol Ellen Holmes is a Consultant Breast Radiologist at Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary.
Dr Holmes qualified from Medical School at University College Cork in 1997. Having completed her surgical training in Ireland, she came to Newcastle upon Tyne in 2001.
She completed advanced breast training fellowships in New South Wales and Perth, Australia and was appointed as a Consultant Breast Radiologist at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in June 2009, with a particular interest in breast MRI and high risk screening.
The Newcastle Breast Unit is both a screening and symptomatic unit. The staff perform High Risk Breast MRI screening for three screening centres in the North of England and Newcastle is the first UK centre to use Iodine Seeds for localisations of breast tumours.
