Without our staff, we wouldn’t be able to offer the world-class standards of safe and compassionate care we are renowned for. In return, we are continually investing in our people.
We provide modern equipment and facilities, and ensure that staff have access to the latest technology, allowing them to keep up with the rapid pace of developments in healthcare.
We are committed to being an ‘employer of choice’, offering our staff superb benefits, looking after their wellbeing, and providing access to high quality education, training, career progression and support.
Put together, this helps our colleagues to provide healthcare at its best, with people at its heart.
Latest vacanciesRecognition for our staff
Our quarterly People at Our Heart Awards allow us to recognise, celebrate and thank staff who are exemplars in enhancing patients’ experience – each year we receive over 350 nominations from patient, carers and families who use our services.
We also have our own internal annual staff awards, Celebrating Excellence, which recognise exceptional achievements and innovative approaches to providing the best possible care and services.
And our long service awards acknowledge the hard work of staff who have been with Newcastle Hospitals for 25, 35 and even 45 years.
In addition, we are proud to have so many departments, teams and staff who achieve external recognition and awards from a range of national and public sector organisations.
Staff networks
Our staff networks support members of staff in their working lives and promote awareness of equality and inclusion within the organisation. We currently have three staff networks which support LGBTQ+, BAME colleagues and staff with disabilities.
Health and wellbeing
Our in house occupational health service offers staff support across a range of areas such as mental health and physiotherapy. The team also provide access to travel and flu vaccinations.
We also have a dedicated Better Health at Work service, to ensure that we are maintaining and educating a healthy workforce through activities and schemes such as running groups and mental health training. Staff are also encouraged to take an active role in this as health champions within team and departments.
