The Care Quality Commission (CQC) carries out regular independent surveys, seeking mothers’ feedback about various points of their journey with maternity services.
For the latest survey, questionnaires were sent out between April and August 2023, and responses were received from 281 people who received maternity care from our staff. Our maternity teams – who oversee the safe delivery of over 6,500 babies every year – received praise for being:
- ‘Much better’ than others at asking about mental health after giving birth.
- ‘Better’ than others at providing help and advice to women who have given birth about feeding their baby and offering support and advice about a baby’s health and progress.
- ‘Somewhat better’ than others at doing everything they could to help manage pain during labour and birth.
