Kevin, 32, has been a consultant urologist in Newcastle since 2008 and developed an interest in male fertility after working as a trainee doctor with now retired specialist Philip Powell.
How were you involved in the series?
In episode 3, Kevin performs surgery to see whether it is possible for Cystic Fibrosis patient, Karl, to start a family with his childhood sweetheart, Bethany. We follow him as he carries out a MESA (microsurgical epididymal sperm aspiration) – a specialist sperm retrieval procedure uses an operating microscope.
Why did you go into this profession?
“After finding out how interesting and dynamic the specialty was, and how important it is to people who are affected by fertility issues, I decided this was the field of work for me.”
