Phil joined the board in June 2024.
Immediately prior to this he was a non executive director with North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust from 2021-2024. He had a diverse portfolio during his tenure and has a broad experience of Trust Board and Sub-committee governance.
Phil, born locally in South Shields and a graduate of Newcastle medical school, undertook his higher professional surgical training in hospitals across the north east and London before taking up post as a consultant neurosurgeon in the South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. He retired from clinical practice in December 2020. During his consultant career he enjoyed a variety of clinical leadership and academic roles with a proven focus on developing the quality of clinical services.
