David Weatherburn

Non executive director and chair of the audit, risk and assurance committee.

David joined the Trust in August 2024 after a 38 year career in legal services.

Born and raised in the north east, David worked for two multi-national law firms with offices in Newcastle.

He specialised in health, social care and insurance, providing advice to many NHS organisations across the healthcare system in England, as well as international providers and insurers.

David has significant board experience as a former elected member of the LLP board of DAC Beachcroft (and one of its subsidiary boards). He led the Newcastle office of that firm for 14 years before joining Newcastle Hospitals.
