Dr Nerys Forester has been a Consultant Breast Radiologist at Newcastle’s RVI since 2011.
Originally from Sunderland, she read Physiology and Clinical Medicine at New College, Oxford, qualifying in 1997.
Following surgical training in Yorkshire and completing a PhD in immunology, Dr Forester trained in clinical radiology in Leeds, and became a Consultant Breast Radiologist in Newcastle in 2011.
Dr Forester performs all aspects of breast radiology including mammography, ultrasound and MRI. Her specialist interest is the use of percutaneous interventional techniques in the diagnosis and management of breast disease.
Research
Dr Forester has an active research interest and completed an MSc in Health Research in 2017. She formed part of the Houses of Parliament cross party working group to address geographical discrepancies in breast care in the UK.
A Professional Clinical Advisor for the NHS Breast Screening Program, Dr Forester is also a member of the Research Advisory Committee for the program and is part of the conference organising committee for Symposium Mammographicum.
Dr Forester is Principal Investigator for a portfolio of NIHR funded research projects and Chief Investigator for research projects with commercial partners (funded by Innovate UK and NHSX).
