Library services
The library service is available to all staff and students on placement within Newcastle Hospitals.
The library provides services and resources to support patient care and safety, audit, service development, education, training and research.
Staff can join by popping into either the Freeman or the RVI library and completing a registration form. Please bring your staff ID badge or, if you are a student, your university Smartcard.
Services and resources include:
- Access to print and electronic books and journals. Items can also be obtained through our inter-library loan service.
- Support for information queries and literature searches where appropriate.
- PCs, laptops and study space.
- Printing, photocopying and scanning facilities.
- Training in the use of resources such as healthcare databases and electronic journals.
- Basic critical appraisal training, tailored to meet the need of individuals or groups of staff or students – this can be provided within the library or the workplace.
- Bite-size training sessions to help access and use the services and resources available. Simply call into the library and ask.
Members can borrow up to 10 books for four weeks, with a maximum of two renewals, unless the item is required by someone else.
