- The Lumis does not have an internal battery so must be run of the electricity.
A external battery is available however it is rare that patients using a Lumis device would require a battery for their device. It can be used if travelling overnight or if staying overnight where there is no power supply, eg camping. - The Lumis has the option of an integrated humidifier to provide extra comfort for patients.
- The Lumis has a build in modem which allows us to remotely monitor the patients use of the device and also us to remotely make changes to the settings.
Device maintenance
- The filter should be changed every 6 months.
- Tubing should we washed weekly in warm soapy water.
- Mask should be washed daily in warm soapy water.
- The water in the Humidification chamber should be rinse and water changed daily (cooled boiled water). The chamber should be washed regularly to avoid build-up of limescale in the base of the chamber.
- The device will be serviced every two years by the Electrical Medical Engineering department at the RVI. This will be carried out at the patients home.
Device alarms
There is only one alarm set on the Lumis device.
High leak alarm
This alarm will sound if the mask is not fitted correctly and air is escaping. To resolve this alarm the mask needs to be adjusted or the mask may need to be replaced if it is older and does not provide as good a seal.
