Device overview
- The Nippy 3+ is a portable NIV machine that can be used for both mask ventilation and tracheostomy ventilation.
- The Nippy 3+ can run on mains power but also has an internal battery which can last anywhere between 4 -12 hours depending on settings and leak. You can also connect an external battery for longer trips outside which can provide another 4-12 hours.
- A humidifier can be used with the device but this needs to be used via an external humidifier added into the circuit.
How to work the device
To power on the device press and hold the power button.
To power off the device press and hold the power button. It will ask you to confirm you want to power off, then press and hold the power button again.
If you get any alarms you can silence these while you solve the issue by pressing the bell button.
Device alarms and troubleshooting
High flow alarm / disconnection alarm
Check the mask for unintentional leaks. If there are none, check the tubing from the ventilator to the mask. If either the mask or tubing are damaged, please contact for replacements.
Low flow alarm
This is to alert you if there is a blockage in the circuit. remove the object blocking the tube. This may be either internal or external. Should you require a new tube please contact for replacements
Machine fault
If the device displays this fault please contact the team and arrange for a replacement
Battery alarm
If the ventilator shuts down when disconnected from the mains, please ensure it has been plugged in for 24 hours. If it continues to shut down despite this, then please contact the team for a replacement.
Device maintenance
Dust filter
The dust filter should be replaced a minimum of monthly.
Battery performance
Battery performance should be checked monthly. This can be done by connecting the green bag to the front and running the ventilator on the battery until the low battery warning comes up.
Tubing
Tubing should we washed weekly in warm soapy water
Mask
The mask should be washed daily in warm soapy water
Humidifier chamber
If a humidifier is in use the water in the Humidification chamber should be changed daily (cooled boiled water).
