International Nurses’ Day gives us the opportunity to show just how much we value our nurses and the positive, life changing impact they have on our patients and their families, as well as their colleagues every day.
We have around 4,500 nurses at Newcastle Hospitals – the largest workforce in the trust.
They are proud to provide healthcare at its best with people at their heart and everything they do reflects our values.
The last year has been, and continues to be incredibly challenging but despite this we have seen so many fantastic achievements.
Executive Chief Nurse Maurya Cushlow said: “Our nurses’ commitment and passion for providing the best care to patients every day is inspiring.
“I feel so proud and privileged to be a part of this exceptional and talented community of nurses.”
Deputy Chief Nurse Ian Joy added “On this International Nurses Day I want to say a personal thanks to all our nurses at the Newcastle Hospitals.
“Despite the challenges they continue to focus on delivering the highest standards of care. Thank you.”
A reflection on International Nurses Day 2023
We’ve produced a short celebratory video which looks back over the previous 12 months and highlights just a few of the many accolades achieved during that time.
It allows us to celebrate our nursing colleagues working across both our hospital and community teams.
Maurya said “These are just some of the fantastic examples of the amazing nurses we have here at Newcastle Hospitals and their achievements over the last year.”
