Dying Matters Week which will take place this year from Monday 8th to Friday 14th of May is about promoting an open culture to highlight the importance of talking about death, dying and grief.
This year’s focus is on how we handle these issues at work.
Grieving in the workplace
Stigma around grieving, and a lack of understanding about what it means to be ill and what happens when you’re dying, mean that too many of us are struggling to cope when faced with life’s inevitable challenges. And the workplace is no exception.
If we live in a society where we are scared to talk about death, we don’t understand dying or refuse to talk about grief, then how can we react with compassion when our colleagues, peers, and friends need support?
