Mr Craig Nesbitt attended Liverpool University medical school graduating with honours in 2006. He completed his training in the North East as a vascular surgeon and gained his medical doctorate with Newcastle University in 2012 studying the role of cadaveric and virtual reality endovascular simulation training. He completed a year’s endovascular Fellowship at the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney, Australia in 2019.
He is a co-founder of the UK Endovascular Trainees (UKETS) – a multi-disciplinary teaching collaborative for basic endovascular skills that won a national British Medical Association (BMA) award in 2014 for education, and a local NHS innovation award in 2013.
He took up his position as consultant vascular and endovascular surgeon at the Freeman Hospital in 2019. He has a specialised interest in complex lower limb revascularisation and currently is the Newcastle Lead for Diabetic Foot Disease.
Research
Mr Nesbitt’s research interests include endovascular simulation training, diabetic foot disease and pre-optimisation in vascular surgery.
