Hello, my name is Jade Mares and I am a Nurse Specialist in Palliative Care at the Freeman Hospital’s Northern Centre for Cancer Care.
After qualifying as a nurse in 2011 I worked in Gateshead for a few years before moving to the Newcastle Hospitals in my current role as a Specialist Nurse in Palliative Care.
I applied to work in Newcastle because it is CQC rated Outstanding and because I truly believe “We have one chance to get it right” – all patients should receive individualised high-quality care, especially at the end of their life.
I believe every day at work our service makes a difference to the patients we see.
We ensure patients who are palliative or at the end of life receive high quality, patient centred and evidence-based care.
I would like to continue ensuring patients and their relatives feel well supported during a difficult time and reassured I can make a difference.
