Hello, my name is Caroline Fieldsend and I am an Improvement Facilitator in the Newcastle Improvement team.
Our role is to support improvement in the Trust.
Improvement is really just change that makes things better for patients and for staff.
We support improvement by working with teams and use an approach that is based on improvement methodology.
I have 16 years of clinical practice as an Orthoptist including six years as deputy head of the department.
My journey into NHS improvement
I have always been motivated to identify opportunities to streamline services with the overarching aim of improving quality of patient care, efficiency of services and promoting standardisations.
In my roles I have led and supported multiple improvement projects, alongside a multiple disciplinary team.
I took part in the Newcastle Improvement bitesize training to develop and further my knowledge and skills to use a QI approach to projects.
I joined the Newcastle Improvement team In May 2022 on a 12 month secondment, as an Improvement Facilitator and have completed my Improvement Coach Programme through the Institute for Healthcare Improvement.
