If you are aged between 50 and 70 years old and registered with a GP, you will receive a routine breast screening invitation every three years.
We invite nearly 50,000 women per year to attend for a mammogram. The invitations are sent in the post automatically so you do not need to contact us to make the appointment.
Your appointment date
When you receive your invitation, you will be able to request a date, time and location for your appointment. Please contact us (number below) if:
- you wish to arrange a screening appointment
- you do not wish to attend your screening appointment
- you use a wheelchair or have a disability as you may need a longer appointment
- you receive your appointment letter and have had a mammogram in the last six months – please let us know
If you have symptoms or you are concerned about changes with your breasts seek advice from your GP straight away (see our breast awareness page for more details). Do not wait until your routine screening appointment.
If your GP feels you would benefit from further investigation, you will be referred to your local hospital. We cannot book an appointment for you without a referral from your GP.
Where and when we screen
When you receive your invitation letter, your screening appointment can be arranged for one of a number of locations.
