Dr Louise Michaelis is a Consultant Paediatrician specialising in childhood allergies at Newcastle’s Great North Children’s Hospital with special interests in IgE and Non IgE mediated food allergy, drug allergy, desensitisation and immune modulation.
Dr Michaelis graduated from Edinburgh (1994) and trained in London (2008) whilst reading for a PhD in Immune Tolerance in early Childhood (2013).
She holds clinics in paediatric allergy in collaboration with colleagues from the immunology, respiratory, gastroenterology, dermatology, ENT and dietetic specialties.
With a keen interest in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, Dr Michaelis lectures for the Universities of Newcastle, Southampton and Imperial College MSc Allergy programmes.
She is involved in developing and delivering courses regionally within specialty, regionally (NPAG), and nationally (BSACI) and co-ordinate phase I, II, and III clinical trials (GNCH-RU) in food allergy, drug allergy and immune modulation).
