Mr Christopher Cowie is a Consultant Neurosurgeon at the RVI’s Neurosciences Centre where he specialises in paediatric neurosurgery, epilepsy surgery, neuro-oncology and spinal surgery.
Mr Cowie graduated from Newcastle Medical School in 2002 and his basic and higher surgical training has been in the North East.
He completed the Northern Region Neurosurgery training programme in Newcastle and Middlesbrough in 2015 and a year-long fellowship in Paediatric neurosurgery and epilepsy surgery at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, Australia in 2016.
He was appointed as a Consultant Paediatric and Adult Neurosurgeon in the Great North Children’s Hospital and Royal Victoria Infirmary in 2017.
His specialist interests lie in paediatric neurosurgery, epilepsy surgery, neuro-oncology and degenerative spinal conditions.
He has an active research interest and is an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Medical Sciences, Newcastle University. He is a supervisor for PhD and MRes students.
