Dr Arthur Pratt is an honorary Consultant Rheumatologist at Newcastle’s Freeman Hospital specialising in early inflammatory arthritis and ‘pre-rheumatoid arthritis’ experimental rheumatology.
Dr Pratt completed his undergraduate training at Leeds Medical School in 2001, with an intercalated BSc degree in Molecular Medicine.
After general postgraduate training in Yorkshire and Nottingham he was admitted to the Royal College of Physicians in 2004. Undertaking specialist Rheumatology training in the North East, he gained an Arthritis Research UK (now Versus Arthritis) Research Training Fellowship in 2007.
Whilst helping to develop the Newcastle Early Arthritis Clinic, Dr Pratt carried out research to develop new tools for diagnosing rheumatoid arthritis, and was awarded his PhD in 2011.
He remains active in research, recently spending 18 months as an NIHR Clinical Lecturer before taking up his current post.
