This page gives you information about primary bone tumours and their treatment.
Primary bone tumours arise in the bones, and although these tumours are rare the most common types are:
- osteosarcoma
- Ewing’s sarcoma
- chondrosarcoma
Treatment
There is a range of treatments for primary bone tumours, depending on the tumour and the patient.
Osteosarcoma and Ewing’s sarcoma are treated with a combination of surgery and chemotherapy.
Radiotherapy often forms a part of treatment for Ewing’s sarcoma.
Chondrosarcoma is usually treated with surgery alone.
