Dr Katy Jones is a Consultant Nephrologist at the Freeman Hospital’s Renal Services Centre where she specialises in renal transplantation.
Dr Jones studied Medicine at Newcastle University (1991-1996) and carried out her junior training in Newcastle.
She investigated genetic causes of kidney scarring in her PhD at the Centre for Life from 1999-2002 and subsequently undertook her SpR training in the Northern Region, starting my consultant career at James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.
Dr Jones moved to the Freeman Hospital in 2010 with the majority of her work is caring for renal transplant patients.
She also leads Clinical Governance in the Renal Department and played a part in setting up the new Masters in Transplantation offered by Newcastle University.
